Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport are injectable medications that temporarily paralyze facial muscles. Because muscle movement is reduced it allows for certain wrinkles and fine lines to reduce as well, giving the skin a smoother, more relaxed look.

How do they work?

Neuromodulators block nerve signals to our muscles. This temporarily paralyzes the specific muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines to appear.

What they’re used for:

Neuromodulators are used to treat areas where fine lines & wrinkles occur such as our crow's feet, frown lines, forehead furrows, etc. We can also use ‘tox to treat other lesser known areas like the upper lip for what’s called a “Lip Flip”; the underarm area for hyperhidrosis (a condition that causes excess sweating); the jaw for those who suffer from TMJ or excessive teeth grinding; the trap muscles for what’s been coined “Barbie Neck” which causes a slimming effect of the shoulder and neck area; along with many other treatments.

Dysport

Botox

Botox and Dysport are widely effective for treating wrinkles and are often considered “top brands” of neuromodulators. Each brand has slightly different properties with some people experiencing better results with one over the other. Botox and Dysport contain the same active ingredient: botulinum toxin type A, but the protein structure slightly differs between the two, leading to different diffusion patterns. Our professionals will help determine which is the best fit for you depending on your anatomy and muscle movement.
